Stop the SEC’s Attack on Crypto
Federal and state regulators have directed their focus on the digital currency sector, all too often hurting the investments of everyday Americans. With the recent flurry of actions from the SEC, the time to act and speak out is now.
Follow these simple steps to reach out to your legislators and make your voice heard – it only takes two minutes to complete – and only works if many of us reach out to our reps.
We have even prepared an easy-to-follow script and talking points for you to reference.
Step 1 – Contact Your Representatives Via Phone or Email
We have provided you a sample script for your to use when calling or emailing your Congressional Representatives. You can use this tool to look up your representatives and find their phone number – https://www.congress.gov/members/find-your-member.
The email format for a member of the Senate or their staff is firstname_lastname@senatorlastname.senate.gov. The email format for a member of the House or their staff is firstname.lastname@mail.house.gov.
You can also look up your representatives at https://www.congress.gov/members/find-your-member
Be sure to change your name and city/state before sending the email message below. Feel free to modify and personalize the script below, but please be respectful – our message will be better received if we make our point succinctly and without hostile language.
Hi, my name is [Your Name], and I live in [Town, State].
As your constituent and an active cryptocurrency investor, I want your boss to be a leader in establishing clear regulations for the cryptocurrency sector that balance consumer protections with economic innovation and growth.
Cryptocurrencies and decentralized technology can change the financial playing field and allow people like myself to take control of our financial futures. We must ensure that all Americans can access this valuable revolutionary technology.
Right now, the SEC is actively undermining my investments by not issuing clear guidance on what is and isn’t allowed. In fact, consumers like me are being hurt by the SEC’s inaction before the fact and their overreaction after the fact.
Thank you for your kind attention to my views on this issue!
Step 2 – Reach Out Online
Most people don’t realize that almost every legislator has an intern that tracks all of their mentions on social media so they can try what topics constituents care about, what their critics are saying, and what their opponents are saying about them.
That’s why it’s important that after you call your Congressional Representatives Office in step 2 you also get online and “say hello” to them on Twitter.
You can find your rep’s twitter handle here or use our own lookup tool and include them in the message below:
